Note: Leave the old belt connected when you loosen the three bolts so you don't deal with the pulley turning). Remove the original belt (mine was a Dayco 5061020, 102" length). Remove the pulley from the smog pump.

I made the parts person at my local Ford place look these up on the computerized microfiche. I opened up the fresh air intake by getting rid of that sad little opening near the radiator cap.Think about it, a 460 trying to suck air through a hole that small. I opened up the air filter box under the filter to get more air and better air distribution through the filter.On my 460, I removed the air pump, hoses, and valve. Redid my vacuum harness to remove line to valve, and capped off that port. You may also have to plug your manifolds, where the lines go in. Here is the essential part. The belt needs to wrap on top and keep following from the right to the left of the water pump pulley. From the left side of the water pump, cross underneath to the right side of the crank pulley, wrap down and around to the left.
